Independent Educator was founded in 2003 to provide independent school administrators and teachers with access to resources and ideas for solving problems and developing strategies to build stronger schools and more effective learning environments.
In 2005 we began to completely redesign and expand the site. This latest version contains many new features:
- Exclusive members-only content areas and features
- Portal-style home page with dynamic content
- Expanded events section
- New blogs section
- Multiple sorting options
- Ability to store favorite links your own "My IE" private page
- Email links to colleagues
- Receive emails whenever new links, events or blogs are added
- Advanced searching including most recent and most popular searches
- Ability to suggest a new resource
- Invite a colleague to join IE
- Improved discussion forum area for members
- Classified listings area in the forum for members
- Expanded classification system for links
- URL testing hides links with broken URLs
- IE logo design merchandise available online supports IE
Independent Educator is maintained by Beaver Country Day School under the direction of Peter Gow. The site was established in part through the generous support of The Edward E. Ford Foundation.
